2015 Duck Commander 500 from Texas Motor Speedway

You'll never forget this roar

This weekend’s Duck Commander 500 was a FANTASTIC race! Lots of great racing in the field — the battle between Harvick and Junior in the final laps was an absolute blast to watch.

Dad’s season ticket package included pit passes this year, so I got a few decent photos from down on the infield. Here they are. Enjoy!

Let’s go racing, boys!

Anatomy of a Flip

It’s been a while since I shared any of my racing photography. I’ll be going back to Texas Motorspeedway this weekend for the Duck Commander 500. Dad and I still go to the “Church of the Quad-Oval” pretty religiously, but I’ve been slacking in the photography department (in general, not just racing) lately.

I’ll try to be better about that.

I’ve been browsing through my archives, and thought I’d share a few of the gems I find. I’ll also be posting some previously unpublished stuff to the blog soon.

OK, so it’s taken me a month to post any more pictures from the fall races at TMS. I know I’ve been delinquent in that regard. Actually, I haven’t blogged at all since the races, have I?

I’m sorry. I’ve had a lot going on. A couple of trips, a holiday, all sorts of business. I’m sorry for that. I’ll try to be better in the future. And Nostalgia Tuesday will return soon, I promise.

Anyway, I spent a couple of hours tinkering with pictures from the Craftsman Truck race, so here are those. I’ll get to the other two races as soon as I can. (Most likely next week.)

Overall, I’m not nearly as happy with these as I am with the shots from the Nationwide Series race on Saturday or the Cup race on Sunday. I was using a lens I hadn’t tried before and it took me a day or so to get comfortable with it. Also, I’ve learned I simply don’t have the gear to shoot the night races properly. (Or at least how I feel it should be done.) If anyone wants to send me a new Canon 5D Mark II and a massive f/4 or lower L series lens I promise I’ll do better next time…

Anyway, click here to check out the set on Flickr.

Photos from the 2008 Samsung 500 are finally up

Anatomy of a Flip

Every year I take a bajillion pictures at the races, yet every time I’m surprised at just how much work I’ve made for myself pulling them off the camera, sorting them, editing them and uploading them. I took somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500 shots on Sunday alone. Of those, I have processed and uploaded 33. You can check out the set here.

At the next race I hope to have some time to wander the campgrounds and document the culture as much as the cars.

Seriously, stuff like this just NEEDS to be on the internets:

My pictures from the Nationwide Series race on Saturday are now up over on Flickr.

So are the pictures from Friday’s qualifying. (Check ’em out here.)

Sunday’s Samsung 500 pictures will be coming Monday evening. (I’ve gotta sleep sometime.)
