The Arlington Life Shelter is opening as emergency shelter at the request of the city and expanding capacity to 120 to house hurricane victims. The shelter will be operating 24-7 until further notice.

The shelter has immediate need for volunteers to accept donations, supervise the children’s room, intake guests and provide supervision/support during the daytime Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The shelter will probably need these same shifts covered daily after this time, but will regroup after the weekend to see what the needs are.

The shelter has urgent need for:

  • towels & washcloths
  • snack foods & drinks
  • twin sheets & pillowcases
  • cereal, sweet rolls, canned fruit (no fresh fruit please!)
  • vouchers for milk

Financial support is greatly needed as the shelter will be operating 8 more hours than usual each day.

Donations will be accepted all weekend long.
